Our Mission

Harmony Celebration Chorus is a group of performers who sing four-part a capella harmony in the barbershop style—passionately committed to enriching the lives of members through friendship, education, musical excellence and community involvement.

Who We Are

Technically speaking, Harmony Celebration was formed officially in May 2007 in the eyes of its parent organization, Sweet Adelines International. The core of its ranks was pulled from the now-retired, three-time International Champion, Ramapo Valley Chorus. More than a third of this 50-plus-member chorus have joined in the past few years. And now we’re writing a new history book together!

Harmony Celebration continues its tradition of producing highly entertaining shows and performing in the community on a regular basis. We also seek to represent the highest levels of achievement on the regional and international competition stage.

Harmony Celebration values diversity and seeks to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for our members, guests, and our audience. Reflecting this inclusive spirit, the chorus recently traveled to Ireland showcasing their commitment to cultural connection and musical outreach.

We hope to sing for you soon.

Our Commitment

HARMONY CELEBRATION CHORUS stands by and supports the recent diversity, equity, and inclusion statement by our Sweet Adelines International Board of Directors. In addition, we realize that as a chorus that rehearses and performs near the most diverse city in the United States, we have a special responsibility and obligation to examine the ways in which we can create an atmosphere of inclusion and the need to take positive action toward a more racially diverse chorus. We look forward to using our platform and our music to create a more just society.

As a first step on our journey, Harmony Celebration Chorus is committed to learning more about ourselves and how we impact our world. To that end, we intend to begin with the following:

● Examining our marketing and recruitment processes to ensure that we are reaching out to the beautifully diverse communities in our area;

● Analyzing our finances to assess how and where our money is spent in an effort to support a diverse group of businesses;

● Engaging in deeper conversations about the music we sing and its history, with the intent to understand its impact more fully on our audiences.

Statement from the Greater NY / NJ Region 15 Regional Management Team

We stand with all those who are crying out for change. We condemn racism and police brutality. We respect ethical police officers who put their lives at risk to protect others. We believe in equality and justice for all. We are proud of SAI leadership for taking steps in acknowledging the organization's history with racism and discrimination, and we encourage them to continue working toward greater awareness, understanding, and inclusivity through concrete actions. We hope to once again be able to join our voices to help heal our communities through beautiful and inclusive harmony, diverse chorus and quartet families, and respect for all humans.
